Jerkcurb announces the release of their upcoming second album titled ‘Night Fishing On A Calm Lake.’

Jacob Read, known as Jerkcurb from South London, has announced that his second album, 'Night Fishing On A Calm Lake', is set to be released on 28th November under Handsome Dad Records. This upcoming album is a much-anticipated follow-up to his 2019 debut 'Air Con Eden', which gained a cult following. After its release, he began planning to evolve Jerkcurb into a full band, but tragically lost his father during that time. As such, 'Night Fishing On A Calm Lake' reflects themes of grief, loss, and confusion. Discussing the LP's lead single, 'Death Valley Morning Dew', Read shared: “It explores the contrast between the vastness of the outdoors, with its nature and sprawling landscapes, and the confinement of an indoors, like the concrete walls of an infirmary. The distinctions between inside and outside are not always clear-cut or literal. One can be anywhere in the world yet feel imprisoned in their own mind.” He further elaborated: “I found myself in a state of limbo, uncertain of the path forward, burdened by anticipatory grief and paralyzing anxiety. This song was never meant to be a single; it lacks a chorus and instead transitions through various sections, reflecting different paths of a journey—some portraying utopian, natural beauty, while others evoke a sense of despair and hell. The only recurrent phrase in the song is the opening line, creating a cyclical feeling throughout the journey.” Below, you can watch the video for 'Death Valley Morning Dew'.
