Chanel Beads presents his latest single, 'The Coward Forgets His Nightmare', released through Jagjaguwar.
The project of New York-based artist Shane Lavers, Chanel Beads hints at his new chapter with a lively track enriched by Zachary Paul’s violin and Maya McGrory’s ethereal vocals. This shimmering duet features Lavers' reflective lyrics set against a time-warping soundscape.
Regarding the single, Chanel Beads remarks: "I believe I may have inadvertently cursed myself at some point, and I'm unsure whether to disregard it or face it. Written and recorded rapidly, influenced by excessive vaping and explorations of bad health. Brought to life alongside Maya and Zach, and polished by Mr. Carlson. It’s a tribute to the love we receive."
This new single follows Chanel Beads’ 2024 debut with Jagjaguwar, 'Your Day Will Come', where Lavers advanced his unique, dreamlike sound—combining synthetic and organic instruments into unusual structures that culminate in transcendent highs.
Fusing the rough edges of post-punk, the emotional depth of pop, and the ethereal qualities of electronic music, Lavers encapsulated the diverse contradictions of contemporary life and the peculiar vastness of the digital realm.
'The Coward Forgets His Nightmare' had its premiere yesterday at a surprise performance featuring Chanel Beads and Voyeur at NYC’s Intercom. This evening, Chanel Beads will perform at Madison Square Garden, opening for Lorde in New York City. He will continue touring with Lorde with performances in Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C., before joining Grizzly Bear for two consecutive shows at NYC’s Brooklyn Steel. Chanel Beads will conclude this series of performances with a headline concert at The Ground in Miami, FL, prior to heading to Mexico City to play at the Corona Capital Music Festival.
