Demae exhibits her emotions openly. As an artist who appears to experience things deeply, her work reflects this reality, serving as a reflection of her inner self.
Her new EP ‘Deep Dive’ has just been released under the influential female-driven label FAMM.
This ambitious eight-track project features songs recorded in Sweden alongside Little Dragon. Demae shares her thoughts:
“I took a leap of faith. I fully embraced and immersed myself in my creative process with this EP. It’s truly a labor of love and enjoyment, and I hope those feelings come through when you listen to it!”
Transitioning from jazz-influenced neo-soul to exquisite R&B, ‘Deep Dive’ provides Demae with a platform to express complete honesty – she elaborates on the release with a track-by-track guide crafted exclusively for CLASH readers.

‘deep dive’
‘Deep Dive’ serves as the project's opening, where I aimed to capture the essence of chaos and creativity as I perceive it. It serves as an ideal introduction to the myriad thoughts, sounds, and textures I felt compelled to share, making it a fitting start to the project as a whole.
‘closer’
‘Closer’ is written from the perspective of the music itself, almost as if the music had a voice. It represents the music inviting you to embrace freedom and move to the rhythm. It’s a dialogue between the music and the listener, exploring how the sounds resonate within.
‘mystical approach’
‘Mystical Approach’ pays tribute to the 80s and reflects on the initial connection between two people and the feelings that arise from that.
‘bliss’
‘Bliss’ is my reflection on the idea of passing through this world and transitioning to the other side, wherever that may lead, contemplating those final moments of joy.
‘don’t play the fool’
‘Don’t Play the Fool’ emphasizes the importance of recognizing and owning your power, ensuring that others do not take advantage of you.
‘steppers’
‘Steppers’ leans toward spirituality, focusing on unity with music and recognizing the healing properties of sound, movement, and the experience of dancing together in harmony with others.
‘thank you’
‘Thank You’ expresses my gratitude for my past, reflecting on experiences I might have once regretted but now see as pivotal in shaping who I am today. If not for those events, I wouldn’t be where I am now, so I’m transforming setbacks into victories and appreciating my past while remaining open to new experiences.
‘light’
‘Light’ is a song I wrote from the perspective of my younger self addressing my older self. Typically, I’m my own harshest critic, but this was an opportunity to be gentle with myself and acknowledge all the positive contributions I am making for myself.
