“Steady Hands” is anything but steady.
FRANK’s latest single is a blazing, high-octane alt-rock anthem, charged with conviction and catharsis. The Indianapolis artist, known as Sydney Elliott, pours unfiltered ferocity into every lyric, backed by a surge of manic guitars, driving percussion, and haunting yet resilient vocals. The result is a sonically rich and emotionally potent whirlwind that is both blistering and beautiful. This marks FRANK's most unapologetic moment, fiery, passionate, and alive in every resonant note.
Steady Hands – FRANK
I don’t need a voice to make the motion
Standing on the edge I see the light
I don’t need a tidal wave emotion
I know when to jump and feel no fright
Letting go might tear it all away
Manic, with no tight grip, you’re so afraid
Tremors in your fingers and your veins
Signal to the sky
Atwood Magazine is excited to present “Steady Hands,” the explosive new single and lyric video from FRANK. Set to release on November 7, 2025, through Absorb., the track marks her first release since the impactful debut EP My Darkness Is Not Pitch Black from last May, which blended grunge, industrial, and indie rock into a striking exploration of self-discovery. Co-written and produced with Owen Thomas (Kishi Bashi, The Band Perry, Dream Chief), “Steady Hands” elevates that sound—an electrifying, punk-infused tempest about trusting your instincts during tumultuous times.
Steady hands got a grip on the rope
And you try not to think, but you’ll die if you choke
Did it occur? Never crash, never burn
How are you gonna learn?
You gotta trust these steady hands

From the very beginning, this track feels like ignition—a spark igniting a flame that spreads rapidly. “Steady Hands” doesn’t merely explode but broods with intensity.
Guitar riffs snarl and grind aggressively, while the drums thunder like a heartbeat under pressure. Every moment feels poised for detonation—a tightly coiled spring of tension and release. Elliott commands the soundscape, her voice a channel of chaos and control, soaring through the turmoil, on the verge of breaking. It’s a compelling performance that draws you in and makes you hold on tight.
“I don’t need a voice to make the motion,” she sings fiercely into the mic, making a bold declaration of defiance. This opening line captures the essence of “Steady Hands”: a song about self-trust in the face of uncertainty, about holding steady when the world trembles beneath your feet. “Standing on the edge I see the light,” she continues, with dark sonic storm clouds swirling around. “I don’t need a tidal wave emotion. I know when to jump and feel no fright…” There’s something both thrilling and empowering in her delivery—not asking but asserting.
The verse unfolds like a rush of adrenaline, each line infused with the same frantic energy that charges the song's blazing sound. The tension escalates, tightening and finally erupting as the track builds to its chorus. The visceral effect is palpable; you can sense FRANK grappling for stability in real-time, her voice balancing fury with focus. The edge she teeters on could symbolize imminent collapse or a new beginning; she leaves it ambiguous, adding to the excitement. “Steady Hands” captures that raw human dichotomy—fear and freedom colliding with unstoppable force. FRANK transforms fervor into fuel, embracing the noise, sweat, and distortion as her heartbeat.
Every minor choice is pure devotion
People say I’m blinded by the sun
Bet you think I’m drifting in the ocean
Logic is your bullet in the gun
Crumble, crater if you wanna do
Mess up later, fantasy approved
Bet it baby, what you got to lose
But the bitterest downside?
At its heart, “Steady Hands” is about survival—maintaining control when everything threatens to spiral out of hand. “‘Steady Hands’ explores the value of trusting your instincts during life's harshest moments,” FRANK explains to Atwood Magazine. “It’s about remaining calm amid chaos while recognizing that your intuition is often right. I aimed to convey the chaos in my head when I’m trying to hold it together—loud, frantic, but focused.”
The tension between frenzy and focus is fundamental to FRANK’s artistry. Each verse
