Ms Banks Reveals Her First Album ‘SOUTH LDN LOVER GIRL’

UK rapper Ms Banks is set to release her debut album, ‘SOUTH LDN LOVER GIRL’, on February 13th, 2026.

This announcement comes nearly ten years into the South London artist’s career, following a series of formative mixtapes, including ‘The Coldest Winter Ever’ and ‘The Coldest Winter Ever, Pt.2’.

With ‘SOUTH LDN LOVER GIRL’, Ms Banks solidifies her status as an authentic storyteller in rap. The album incorporates a blend of Afrobeats and hip-hop-inspired sounds, showcasing Banks’ multifaceted artistry: she's the sharp lyricist, the vibrant partygoer, the reflective storyteller, and the romantic.

Lyrically, the album draws from Banks’ experiences as a second-generation African descendant and a young Black girl growing up in South London.

Regarding her debut album, Ms Banks states: “You don't often see the terms South London and lover girl used together, as unfortunately, we girls from South carry a negative reputation. My surroundings may contribute to why I come off as tough and stern, but deep down, there is a girl who wants to love and be loved.

She adds: “This is certainly the most vulnerable I've ever been on a project, being honest about life through my lens, with a mix of past and present experiences.”

The new prelude single, ‘4C’, serves as an empowering anthem that celebrates Black womanhood, self-love, and authenticity. The track focuses on taking pride in natural 4C hair, challenging beauty standards as Banks dismisses societal pressures for cosmetic enhancements.

“I believe ‘4C’ is a great introduction to the story,” Banks comments. “It’s quite different from anything I’ve done previously, produced by the talented Hargo Productions, known for launching artists like Central Cee. During the recording, I was in the studio with my natural hair and felt really empowered in that moment. Although I wear extensions and wigs by choice, I take pride in my hair and the positive narrative surrounding it.”

The album includes collaborations with Tiggs Da Author, Layyah, Strandz, and Zinoleesky, and addresses themes such as the mental health of Black men and the importance of breaking taboos.
