Maria BC is set to release their new album, 'Marathon,' on February 27th, 2026.
This upcoming album is their third, showcasing the artist from Oakland focusing on the song as a creative entity. By reducing production elements, Maria BC has dedicated time to refining each aspect of the musicality, culminating in 13 tracks that are full of character.
Scheduled for release on February 27th, the West Coast will embark on a tour with Marissa Nadler, featuring a series of shows across the United States.
Before this, the title track from their new album is now available online. 'Marathon' brings Maria BC back to their roots, referencing a local landmark – the songwriting is vivid and detailed, creating a photograph-like quality steeped in atmosphere.

“There was a ‘Marathon’ gas station at the end of the street where I grew up. Its large, illuminated sign was a significant marker for me – when I spotted it from my mom’s car window, I knew we were nearing home. The iconic 'M' still evokes that old feeling of homecoming and a hint of nostalgia whenever I stumble upon one these days.”
“I find something unsettling about this. The oil company’s branding has been, or at least used to be, incredibly patriotic, with its red, white, and blue color scheme and idealized Midwestern imagery, depicting dusty roads, cowboys, and wild horses that echo the brand’s slogan, ‘Fueling the American Spirit.’ I once heard advertising described as ‘satanic poetry’ – and I have to agree. The fact that this logo, despite all the negativity it represents, can evoke nostalgia – can serve as a guiding light – seems very sinister to me.”
