London singer Skye Newman has emerged victorious in BBC Radio 1’s Sound Of 2026 poll.
This annual survey highlights emerging talent both locally and internationally, tapping into the cultural industry's current trends. Combining insights from journalists, broadcasters, and fellow artists, the poll features contributions from notable figures such as Elton John, Dua Lipa, JADE, Olivia Dean, YUNGBLUD, and Sam Smith, among others.
A few weeks ago, the final Top 10 was announced, with Skye Newman confirmed as the winner of BBC Radio 1’s Sound Of 2026 poll.
The South London artist had a remarkable 2025, releasing several viral hit singles, supporting Lewis Capaldi on his arena tour, and achieving a sold-out show at Camden’s iconic KOKO venue.
Skye expressed her excitement: “I’m still in shock that I’ve won Radio 1’s Sound of 2026! So many artists I’ve admired over the years have received this award, and now I’m one of them! It’s unbelievable that Sound Of began in the year I was born, 2003, and now I’m a winner! I’m incredibly grateful, and I wouldn’t be here without my supporters and the BBC guiding me on my journey. Thank you!”
In second place was Lewisham rapper Jim Legxacy, followed by American pop innovator sombr in third; indie sensations Geese claimed fourth, with Royal Otis rounding out the top five.
