Robbie Williams Discusses Take That Reunion, Knebworth, and Better Man

Robbie Williams recently participated in an interview where he talked about a possible Take That reunion, the Better Man biopic, and his upcoming album ‘BRITPOP.’

The UK artist is looking to set a new record with his forthcoming album ‘BRITPOP’, scheduled for release on February 6th. If the album reaches number one on the official charts, Robbie will surpass The Beatles to achieve a new chart milestone.

During a visit to The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, Robbie shared that he has five more solo albums in progress, stating: “I want to work, I want to go out there, I want to be active. I'm still very ambitious, and I love what I do and enjoy working.”

The host noted that Take That is resurrecting their iconic Circus tour, the event that originally brought Robbie back to the group years ago.

“It’s one of the best shows ever,” the singer remarked. “That’s what got me back in. Gaz came over to my house in Los Angeles with a copy of the show, and I just stood there, spellbound, watching it. I loved it, and I thought, ‘I want to be part of this again.’ Now that the boys are reviving the Circus tour, it’s a fantastic idea that has captured everyone's imagination, and the tickets are selling incredibly well. It got me thinking about the possibility of doing the Knebworth show.”

With a laugh, Robbie dismissed the idea of a Knebworth show for now but expressed openness to a potential Take That reunion: “I enjoyed it last time. Not at the moment. I’m sure we’ll perform together again, but it’s not in my current plans.”

The conversation shifted to Robbie's lack of success in breaking into the American market, and he reflected on why that occurred. “When I got to America to promote an album, I was ill, struggling with addiction and alcoholism, overwhelmed by everything at the peak of my career that I couldn't manage. Nobody copes well in those situations. If you look for someone who emerged well-adjusted during that time, I’d say you probably don’t know them personally because it’s quite rare. I can only think of maybe Tom Hanks.”

“I thought about moving there for the anonymity, to enjoy my gains without the pressure. So, I decided to be Bruce Wayne in Los Angeles and Batman everywhere else.”

When discussing Better Man, Robbie praised the biopic. “Everyone who has seen it loved it, unfortunately, not enough people did! But those who have seen it come out saying it was incredible. I'm very fortunate to have a biopic about my life and career as a form of advertisement for myself.”

‘BRITPOP’ is set to be released on February 6th.
