Kate Nash Appointed as Patron of Music Venue Trust

Kate Nash has been announced as a patron of the Music Venue Trust.

The trust is doing remarkable work to aid independent music venues throughout the country, providing practical guidance, financial assistance, and advocating for institutional support for grassroots music.

Music Venue Trust counts several prominent figures among its supporters, including Sir Paul McCartney, and has recently introduced six new patrons.

Among the new patrons is Kate Nash, who has been a vocal advocate for music venues and the necessary changes within the industry.

The singer performed in the Houses of Parliament during the January launch of MVT’s Annual Report and readily accepted the role of patron.

Kate Nash remarked, “I love grassroots venues; I wouldn’t have the career I have today without them. I appreciate music and art at all levels. Safeguarding grassroots venues is an investment in the future of UK culture. Losing them means losing the creation, nurturing, and evolution of future artists.”

Joining Kate among MVT’s existing patrons are Sian Berry, MP for Brighton Pavilion; live music agent Summer Marshall; Robert Kilpatrick, CEO and Creative Director of the Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA); Neal Thompson, co-founder of FOCUS Wales; and Colin Newman, co-founder of Wire, artist, and manager.

Sian Berry MP stated, “I have witnessed firsthand the incredible and relentless efforts of the Music Venue Trust in supporting grassroots music venues across the UK. My constituency, Brighton Pavilion, is home to many fantastic grassroots venues such as The Green Door Store, Alphabet, Rossi Bar, The Prince Albert, Hope and Ruin, The Folklore Rooms, and Komedia, to name a few. All these venues closely collaborate with MVT, and I’ve heard directly from them about the essential assistance and guidance they receive throughout the year. As an MP, it’s extremely reassuring to have the insights and expertise of the MVT team, and I look forward to working together for these vital community spaces.”
