Chloe Qisha - Sex, Drugs & Existential Dread
Chloe Qisha addresses issues such as terrible outfits, the climate crisis, and a mundane guy named Steve on her latest release. Continuing her trend of observational hits following her recent single ‘21st Century Cool Girl’, ‘Sex, Drugs & Existential Dread’ - her response to the Ian Drury classic - combines funky pop with an energetic beat while illustrating a grim depiction of a world in flames. Embracing the urge to isolate herself and ignore reality, Chloe suggests a mix of anxiety, pleasure, and hedonism, all easily accessible from her bed. (Caitlin Chatterton)
Cliffords - Bittersweet
With an exuberant burst of riffs and drums complemented by soaring strings, Cliffords elevate their sound in ‘Bittersweet’. This track effectively captures the overwhelming emotions and nostalgia of youth. This marks their first collaboration with producer Richie Kennedy, which has paid off, enhancing the Cork-based band's vibrant spirit. The song is filled with beautiful elements – rich vocal harmonies, lead guitar echoing the melody, and well-placed reverb – while Iona Lynch delivers her most ambitious vocals yet, soaring to incredible heights. (Phil Taylor)
South Arcade - Supermodels
Reviving the nostalgia and chaos of the Y2K era in 2025, South Arcade makes a riotous comeback with their new single ‘Supermodels’. Featuring explosive riffs and emotionally charged vocals, the Oxford-based band celebrates their distinct combination of early 2000s pop and alt-rock. Released just ahead of their upcoming UK headline shows, as well as their tour supporting Bilmuri across Europe, South Arcade seems poised for significant growth (and to dominate our social media feeds in the process). (Emily Savage)
The Orchestra (For Now) - The Strip
As they near the release of their debut EP ‘Plan 75’, The Orchestra (For Now) presents their most intense track yet. Following ‘Wake Robin’ and ‘Skins’, ‘The Strip’ serves as their standout piece thus far. The song flows through anxious bursts of frantic piano, thick guitar riffs, and piercing, trembling strings. The unapologetic lyrics craft a neo-noir film narrative, held together by an intense core. Any moment of calm is fleeting before the music recoils, bracing for a raw outburst. ‘The Strip’ explores its darker edges while maintaining melodious interludes, showcasing The Orchestra (For Now)’s evolving complexity. (Kayla Sandiford)
YHWH Nailgun - Animal Death Already Breathing
Like a solitary creature enveloped in thick shadows, racing towards a foreboding, ethereal light, YHWH Nailgun’s ‘Animal Death Already Breathing’ powerfully captures the heart-racing, sweat-soaked intensity of their live performances. As the third single from their impending debut album ‘45 Pounds’, the track captivates with its stringent rhythmic core, defining the New York band’s sound. Coupled with lead vocalist Zack Borzone’s frantic, nearly indistinguishable gasping, the result is an utterly unique sound that is highly addictive and carries an unfiltered rawness that strips away to reveal something visceral beneath. (Hazel Blacher)
lilo - Cycling
Indie-folk duo lilo conclude the lead-up to their debut album ‘Blood Ties’ with the release of ‘Cycling,’ a track expressing the tension of uncertainty, fatigue, and unexpected happiness. Written by Christie Gardner during her time working at a primary school during the pandemic, ‘Cycling’ reflects both a physical journey down Old Kent Road and an emotional one. It navigates the confusion of doubt and helplessness while paralleling the challenge of guiding kids through an unpredictable world on a limited budget. Yet, amidst its melancholic honesty lies a warmth, recognizing resilience and the beauty of persevering. (Gemma Cockrell)
Lauren Duffus - N.U.M.T.E
Since starting her music career in 2020, London-based producer, DJ, and vocalist Lauren Duffus has swiftly integrated herself into the city's vibrant electronic scene. After a series of performances both locally and globally, she returns with ‘N.U.M.T.E.’, her first release since 2022. This dystopian club track exists in a dream-like state, hovering between slumber and twilight awareness. The echoed phrase “I need you more than ever” floats over glimmering synths and jittery breakbeats, creating an eth
