Dickies Offers a Contemporary Interpretation of Classic American Workwear for Summer

The 'Summer Icons' campaign highlights the varied and adaptable essence of America's youth subcultures as Dickies launches a lightweight and durable summer collection.

Dickies has introduced a skate-inspired campaign for the summer to align with a collection featuring light and contemporary versions of its most iconic designs.

Founded over a century ago in Fort Worth, Texas, as a denim bib manufacturer for ranchers, farmworkers, and other laborers, the brand has transformed over the years into a cornerstone of classic American workwear, bridging cultural divides between American workers and diverse subcultures with its dependable, sturdy designs and rugged aesthetics.

To capture the essence of the Summer Icons campaign, Dickies has collaborated with Raisa Abal, a photographer and multidisciplinary artist known for founding Dolores Magazine—a skateboarding publication aimed at showcasing the stories of underrepresented women and gender minorities in the skating community.

Recognized for her fresh viewpoint and genuine storytelling through visuals, Abal’s photography encapsulates the spirit of the collection: a cultural evolution in workwear that honors the artists and creatives influencing the dialogue.

The collection is inspired by the brand’s legacy as it reinterprets key pieces from the Dickies archives, offering new versions of classic Unionville styles. Items such as the Unionville work pants, work shirt, 13-inch shorts, and work skirt receive a contemporary update, crafted from lightweight materials like Poly Cotton Twill— a durable fabric—and a specific garment dye wash for a comfortable, worn-in feel.

The Dickies Summer Icons collection extends the brand’s commitment to quality craftsmanship and versatile workwear designs while also celebrating evolving youth subcultures with practical, adaptable pieces.
