The indie pop group caroline has announced the release of their new album.
Their self-titled debut came out in 2022, receiving praise for its melodic skill and imaginative quality. A new album titled ‘caroline 2’ is set to be released on May 30th through Rough Trade Records.
Recording sessions were held at Big Jelly Studios in Ramsgate, with production managed by band members Jasper Llewellyn, Casper Hughes, and Mike O’Malley.
The new single ‘Tell me that I never knew that’ has been described by the band as “a rush of euphoric nostalgia,” incorporating their distinct sound alongside vocals from the talented Caroline Polachek.
The music video was shot by Caroline Polachek and the band themselves, with caroline sharing...
We used to refer to this song as ‘Backstreet boys’ because the opening melody felt reminiscent of a Backstreet Boys track. Casper created the catchy, bouncy acoustic guitar riff that really stood out. We collaborated on the opening melody and immediately thought of how it sounded like something Caroline Polachek would sing, given its hooky appeal. We joked about asking her to sing it, not really believing it could happen, until about a year later when we sent her the half-finished track and she was interested!
Caroline was incredible. She contributed many additional parts that really elevated the song, and then spent a few hours recording some improvised sections. We were still working around 1:30 AM when we decided to wrap up, but there was no sign of tiredness from Caroline; she maintained her singing stamina even after about six hours. It was truly inspiring to see! A few weeks later, we collaborated with Caroline to do some final adjustments, and then the song was complete.
Listen now.
