Searching for a way to break through the emptiness and truly feel alive...

“Are you going to be the one to make me feel better?”

This isn’t just a request – it’s a challenge, a provocation, a flicker of daring hope wrapped in vibrant anticipation. Mint Simon and Tafari Anthony embody the rush of yearning, the excitement of a fresh bond, and the pressing need to escape the burdens of life – even if just for a fleeting moment – in their recently released duet. Launched on February 12th, just ahead of Valentine’s Day, "Feel Better" serves as pure, unfiltered escapism through romance – a track that takes you by the hand and leads you to the dance floor without hesitation.

Bathed in glossy synths and catchy melodies, Simon and Anthony create a neon-bright, pulse-quickening surrender to the kind of love that doesn’t require eternity; it simply seeks the present.

Feel Better – Mint Simon & Tafari Anthony

Out of emotions, I'm simply exhausted

I just witnessed the ocean still ablaze

It must be nice to feel desire

      It’s been a while

Lost in the stillness of my thoughts

Will I catch up, or will I lag behind?

      Searching for something

      to pierce through the void

      To feel alive.

“The moment I heard Tafari’s voice, I was captivated, immersed, and eager to sing with him,” Simon shares with Atwood Magazine. “We first connected on social media, and when we finally had the chance to escape lockdown, we met in Toronto for our long-awaited session. I was certainly apprehensive about writing and performing with T, but the song flowed out of us so naturally. I had collaborated with Derek Hoffman (producer) on the Caveboy album and was thrilled to reunite with him for my own project, trusting his mix of vintage and modern styles.”

“Still figuring out my own sound, this song truly helped me enjoy the songwriting and singing process, reminding me how fulfilling it is to connect with another artist. By employing common romantic themes and addressing the loneliness that can sometimes accompany queer romance, this track offered us a chance to return to our fundamental desires and needs. Despite our differing experiences, Tafari and I connected deeply as queer individuals grappling with love, loss, and heartbreak, and merely existing – and when contemplating the end of the world, who will knock on your door? I’m thrilled for people to experience the blend of our unique voices that create something entirely special. I’m so glad to have ‘Feel Better’ released in this new duet music era.”

      Drive into the sunset

      Flowers and chocolates

      Baby, I’m ready to go

      Even if it’s perfect

      Love on the surface

Now that you’re at my door

      I just want to know.

The collaboration between Simon and Anthony sprang from an immediate creative chemistry – a feeling Simon sensed instantly, and as Anthony reveals, he shared that sentiment.

“I was aware of Mint from Caveboy, and we eventually connected on social media as they embarked on their solo project,” he explains. “We were both excited about each other’s work, and one day, Mint mentioned they would be in Toronto and would love to arrange a session. So naturally, I agreed!”

“Being in the same room with Mint and Derek was incredibly nerve-racking,” he adds. “I usually write by myself and had just started getting into co-writing more before the pandemic hit. Despite all of that, working with the three of us felt really organic. Mint’s voice is iconic, and witnessing them sing in person was an experience on its own. Derek’s production always captures the best of pop and alternative, and he delivered again in the session. I was in awe of both of them during the process. The song came together quite swiftly as we got to know each other that day.”

Are you going to be the one to make me feel better?

Are you going to be the one to help me forget?

I don’t need you trying to save me, baby

I just want to feel better

      So make me feel better

I just want to feel better.

The casual chaos suited me just fine

      Offering comfort throughout the night

Boys will be boys, but I'm tired of hoping

      I’m weary of the noise.
