South London’s Shame has announced the arrival of a powerful new album titled ‘Cutthroat’ and has released its intense title track. This upcoming release will follow their 2023 album ‘Food For Worms’, along with earlier works like their 2018 debut ‘Songs Of Praise’ and 2021’s ‘Drunk Tank Pink’. The band’s fourth studio album is set to launch on September 5, 2025, through Dead Oceans. Produced by Grammy winner John Congleton, this dynamic new album is expected to truly capture the essence of Shame as a band. “This is about who we are,” states Charlie Steen of the band. “Our live performances are not performance art - they are straightforward, confrontational, and unrefined. That has always been our foundation. We live in chaotic times. But it’s not about ‘Poor me.’ It’s about ‘Fuck you.’” He continues, “It’s aimed at the cowards, the hypocrites.” He adds, “Let’s be honest, there are plenty of them around right now.” To complement the album announcement, the band has released the lead single, a punchy and groove-infused track that embodies self-defiance with a playful attitude. “I was inspired by various Oscar Wilde plays, where everything revolves around paradox,” explains Steen. “In ‘Cutthroat’, it reflects the notion from Lady Windermere’s Fan, ‘Life’s far too important to be taken seriously.’” Watch the surreal music video for ‘Cutthroat’, directed by Ja Humby, featuring the band adorned with intriguing props, below. In addition to sharing album details, the band has also revealed several live performances, including a guaranteed high-energy evening at Brixton Jamm tomorrow night (Wednesday, June 4). Their extensive headlining tour will start in Paris at the end of September, wrapping up with a major show in London at year’s end.
