The NYC band The Thing has released two new singles, ‘Holy Water’ and ‘Alive (The Sword).’
The group fuses ultra-heavy psych with indie rock, and they are set to release their self-titled debut album on August 6th.
As a preview, The Thing has chosen to go big—both singles are now available online.
Released now, ‘Holy Water’ and ‘Alive (The Sword)’ capture the contrasting energies of The Thing, oscillating between darkness and light.
‘Alive (Sword)’ is a somewhat more straightforward track, with guitarist/vocalist Jack Bradley stating: “It’s about having patience and evolving into the person you know you should be – while also maintaining faith. There’s no need to rush, which is something I often struggle with.”
‘Holy Water’ is a six-minute epic, serving as a complex exploration of The Thing’s powerful sound. Bradley adds: “It developed very organically, with all of us playing together, allowing the first section to completely fade and then reviving it with the same chords and melody, but with a different expression.”
Tune in now.
