The upcoming album 'Self Titled' is set to be released on July 4th.
On June 23, 2025, poet and musician Kae Tempest unveils the third single, ‘Diagnoses’, from the forthcoming album 'Self Titled', which will be released through Island Records.
Following the earlier singles ‘Statue In The Square’ from March and ‘Know Yourself’, ‘Diagnoses’ presents Kae in a candid manner, exploring contemporary issues such as neurodiversity, trauma flashbacks, dysphoria, and our shared sense of lethargy.
Co-produced by Fraser T Smith and Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers, ‘Diagnoses’ serves as an ode to the resilience of the human spirit.
Kae expresses, “It’s a summer anthem about antipsychotics and HRT, and loving one another no matter how mentally affected we are... It’s a call to reexamine our perceptions. We are all more vibrant than we acknowledge.”
In the creation of 'Self Titled', Kae collaborated closely with the Grammy-winning producer known for his work with Adele and Stormzy. Fraser encouraged Kae to take an active role in production and to write from a first-person perspective, enabling him to share his own narrative. The outcome is an album that allows Kae to reconnect with his hip-hop origins while celebrating modern pop influences.
‘Diagnoses’ is released just before Kae’s performance on the Park Stage at Glastonbury Festival this Sunday.
