Blue Slate has unveiled their new single ‘Melody In Melancholy.’

The four-member group originates from Kildare, Ireland, featuring a quartet of dreamers focused on achieving their goals. Live, they are an impressive presence, with notable recent appearances including a journey to Paris, a sought-after performance at Brixton Windmill in London, and supporting Clash favorites Big Special.

Their debut EP ‘This Is How I Sleep At Night’ released earlier this year showcased their lyrical skill and gift for memorable choruses.

Returning to the studio, their new single ‘Melody In Melancholy’ highlights their strengths. Blue Slate – consisting of John Harney on vocals and guitar, Pierce Devine on guitar, James Hargreaves on bass, and Tim Tora on drums – blends indie songwriting with a fresh perspective, evoking deep emotional responses in the process.

      Blue Slate explains:

‘Melody In Melancholy’ was the first track we recorded following the release of ‘This Is How I Sleep At Night’, our debut EP. After taking some time away from the studio to reflect on the EP's release, we felt it was the right moment to return and start preparing for our next project.

The song reflects on how we can become attached to various things, whether people or substances. The lyrics delve into questioning why we continually return to someone or something that has hurt us, exploring whether it’s out of hatred or comfort.

      Tune in now.
