Hermanos Gutiérrez y Leon Bridges se unen en "Elegantly Wasted".

The Ecuadorian-Swiss brother duo, Hermanos Gutiérrez, have collaborated with Texan singer-songwriter Leon Bridges on their latest single, “Elegantly Wasted.”

Released through Easy Eye Sound, this lovestruck track merges psych-soul with the smooth, syncopated beats of Bossa, marking the duo’s first song that features English vocals and lyrics.

Blending Estevan and Alejandro Gutiérrez’s signature Spaghetti Western guitar style with Leon Bridges’ soulful voice, “Elegantly Wasted” is a collaborative effort that includes Mike Rojas on keys, Sam Bacco on percussion, Jeffrey Clemens on drums and percussion, and Dan Auerbach on bass and guitar.

Estevan and Alejandro Gutiérrez first encountered Leon Bridges in their hometown of Zurich in 2015 but developed a strong bond while opening for him on tour. Just this past week, they hosted his birthday celebration at David Lynch’s SILENCIO in Paris.

“Elegantly Wasted” represents their first major collaboration. Reflecting on their blending musical styles, Hermanos Gutiérrez shared:

“We’ve always admired Leon’s style and his approach to music. When we met in Nashville last November, we had a brief window of about four hours before our show at the Ryman that evening, during which we wrapped up a song we had been working on for months. Leon arrived and heard the track for the first time in the studio with Dan Auerbach and the entire Easy Eye Sound team, along with Leon’s crew. He picked up a microphone and began to sing a melody over it. It was like hearing an angel. We all anticipated he would deliver with his first note, and he did. He wasn’t singing any lyrics yet, just whatever felt right. It was a remarkable moment, and then he collaborated with Dan to write the lyrics.

This reflects the experience of being on tour together for seven weeks. Touring is enjoyable, but it can feel like an endless expedition. You can sense that in the music and sound. There’s a blend of happiness and a touch of nostalgia.”

“Elegantly Wasted” follows Hermanos Gutiérrez’s 2024 album “Sonido Cósmico,” which has achieved over 135 million streams since its release.
