Today (Friday, July 25th), Tame Impala has unveiled his brand-new single ‘End of Summer’, marking his first complete solo release in two years. This song also serves as the inaugural track released under his new label, Columbia Records UK. In this piece, Kevin Parker shifts away from the warm psychedelia that has characterized his previous work, drawing inspiration from “the deep, rich history of dance music,” spanning “from the acid house summer of ’89 to the free parties of the mid-90s.” This release signifies the beginning of a new era for Tame Impala, following Parker’s last full album ‘The Slow Rush’, which was launched in 2020. Since then, he has been quite active, collaborating with artists like Thundercat, Dua Lipa (with whom he worked on last year's ‘Radical Optimism’), and Justice over the past five years. Alongside the release of ‘End of Summer’, he has also debuted a visually captivating video for the song, directed by multi-disciplinary artist Julian Klincewicz. Take a look below.
