Nigerian star Rema is back with a new track titled ‘Kelebu’.
The artist recently made waves in North London, appearing as one of Drake’s special guests during the OVO star’s Wireless event. Undoubtedly a highlight of the day, Rema's captivating presence illuminated Finsbury Park.
Now, he returns with ‘Kelebu,’ which draws on both historical and contemporary West African dance music, blending generational influences to pay homage to his predecessors while providing something fresh for the new generation.
This vibrant and catchy song is designed for the dance floor – and he aims to get you moving.
In a new initiative, Rema has invested $10,000 of his own money into a dance challenge – the best dancers will win.
He shared…
“Growing up, I didn’t have a phone to shape my music preferences; my family had varied tastes, so I listened to what was played around me. At school parties, we danced to many Caribbean and Francophone tracks. We didn’t focus on the lyrics since most weren’t even in our local Nigerian languages. They often repeated a single word over a great instrumental, and we all danced along. Now, when I make music, I revisit those moments through my art.”
