The Last Dinner Party has unveiled ‘Second Best’—their new single inspired by Sparks, which is the third preview of their upcoming sophomore album ‘From The Pyre’, set to release on October 17th via Island. Following the earlier releases ‘This Is The Killer Speaking’ and ‘The Scythe’, ‘Second Best’ features guitarist Emily Roberts taking the lead conceptually as she contemplates a damaging cycle of obsession and betrayal. “I wish I could tell my past self that I deserve more, and that no one should have to settle for being second best,” she explained, offering insight into the song's origins. “I aim for this track to express the pain, anger, and despair I experienced, but most importantly, the defiance and sense of accomplishment I feel in being able to immortalize this person in a song and to reflect on the situation with greater maturity.” Check out our feature with The Last Dinner Party from 2024 and watch the lyric video for ‘Second Best’ below. To celebrate the release of ‘From The Pyre’, The Last Dinner Party will be hosting a series of intimate outstore shows before embarking on a major headline tour across the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
