Producer Mark Pritchard teams up with Thom Yorke on a new track titled ‘Back In The Game.’

The pair are seasoned collaborators, having previously joined forces on the highly praised ‘Beautiful People,’ a standout track from Mark Pritchard’s 2016 album ‘Under The Sun.’

The song was previewed during Thom Yorke’s solo tour across New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and Singapore, with snippets of ‘Back In The Game’ swiftly spreading across social media.

Mark Pritchard leads the production, using his innovative style that fuses analogue equipment with digital aspirations. The vocals are ethereal, yet they are processed through the H910 Harmonizer, one of the pioneering devices in audio digital effects.

‘Back In The Game’ is remarkably timeless, existing in a liminal space that feels both subtle and remarkably impactful.

Jonathan Zawada creates the dreamlike video, utilizing a mix of analogue and digital methods that effectively reflects the sonic blend.

      The director shares...

Upon first listening to the original demo of ‘Back In The Game,’ I was captivated by the wild bassline that reminded me of the final scene from Staying Alive, where John Travolta struts confidently through New York streets—but I envisioned it with a darker twist. Gradually, an image formed around a character donning a large parade head, their expression one of manic fixation, making it unclear whether their endless march represented aggression or celebration. As I delved deeper into the lyrics, more nuances began to emerge, leading to the overall concept of a procession of various characters moving past a building from which all manner of things were being hurled into a giant bonfire. Ultimately, the video for ‘Back In The Game’ depicts a kind of blind festival occurring while civilization crumbles around it, illustrating a progression through regression. This is further underscored by an examination of where and how we assign value in our shared cultural expressions and how we collectively navigate significant cultural changes in the 21st century.
