Tugboat Captain will release their fourth album titled ‘Dog Tale’ later this year.
Scheduled for release on April 25th, the new album sees the indie pop favorites continuing their artistic growth. Its deeply DIY feel was developed during seven days of recording at Ctrl P, the South London studio operated by band members Josh and Sox.
Blending indie pop with elements of psych and dream pop into a baroque-infused sound, the upcoming record is led by a new single.
The title track ‘Dog Tale’ is now available and serves as a playful nod to the canine-themed cocktails offered at the Cavendish Arms (Dogtails). With a catchy melody, the music video was directed by the band's bassist, Joshua Cobb, featuring Sox’s dog Rufus along with other furry companions.
“We shot the music video in a church hall, gathering as many untrained dogs as we could to host a quirky dog show, with the owners as the participants,” Joshua shared. “We wanted to explore the idea of how peculiar it is to rank dogs, opting instead to have the dogs rank the humans. The video was created in the same hands-on DIY spirit as the album.”
