In anticipation of his upcoming album...
Peter Doherty has released his new solo single ‘The Day The Baron Died’.
The English musician is embarking on a solo journey in 2025, with his new album ‘Felt Better Alive’ scheduled to be released on May 16th through Strap Originals.
Fans can now pre-order the new single, which includes ‘The Day The Baron Died’ along with two exclusive tracks not included on the album, titled ‘Océan’ and ‘Honky Noir’.
Available now, ‘The Day The Baron Died’ showcases Peter’s flair for melodic storytelling, presenting a character sketch with a laid-back style.
The songwriter shared his thoughts, saying…
“I’ve always seen it as a quirky jazz piece, with a fun, catchy melody. It pays tribute to [John Lennon’s] ‘Instant Karma’, not in terms of the lyrics, but with that unusual off-beat drum fill in the chorus. I’m not going to delve into what the song means since I’m currently working on a follow-up!”
A gothic-themed video has also been released, shot at Peter’s residence and on a cliffside in Etretat (Normandy). Directed by Thad & Numa, it features Peter Doherty (The Baron) and Katia deVidas Doherty (The Lady).
The video is now available and comes with an additional announcement – Peter Doherty’s band will feature Mike Joyce (of The Smiths!) at select upcoming headline shows.

The track follows closely behind the trio’s latest single ‘Relationships’.
