London artist VC Pines is set to launch his EP ‘Viole(n)t Colour’ on May 23rd.
Developed in the wake of his 2023 debut album ‘MRI,’ ‘Viole(n)t Colour’ serves as a deeply personal exploration of both personal and professional turmoil, reflecting a time marked by burnout, creative stagnation, and instability. It offers a candid portrayal of the challenges faced by independent musicians, as VC Pines crafts a polished alt-soul sound infused with unique quirks and characteristics.
Regarding the EP, VC Pines shares: “Last year was primarily about recovering from a mental breakdown after releasing the ‘MRI’ album without any management or label, while juggling two tours and experiencing burnout. A lot of other things happened when I returned, and I felt as if I had lost my creative voice, my closest relationships, and my purpose. It took some time, but I returned to writing and found a way to keep making music. This EP features a blend of songs I’ve been holding onto for a while and tracks that helped me navigate the last 6-12 months. To me, ‘Viole(n)t Colour’ feels small and rough around the edges, like a pinecone in your pocket, yet it contains moments of significant self-discovery, with the potential to grow into the tallest tree in the forest.”
After releasing the early teasers ‘BREAK’ and ‘need 2 breathe’ earlier this year, VC Pines presents the track ‘Made 2 Luv,’ featuring Josie Man; a song born out of frustration with the music industry, the UK’s empty promises, and the façade of success in London, yet conveyed with a cool, almost ironic allure.
To mark the release of his EP on May 23rd, VC Pines will perform live at London’s Omega on the very same day. Tickets can be purchased here.
