"All I'm doing is creating opportunities to be everything I aspire to be, simultaneously." Her latest EP, ‘kissing under an (almost) full moon,’ showcases the expansive nature of her imaginative realm, as Sophie delves into her artistry through various mediums at once. “Sometimes while I’m crafting a song, I may stop and draw or journal, spending time with whatever emotions it brings up for me.” Sophie also ventures boldly into different sonic landscapes, refusing to confine herself to a single genre, embracing the limitless evolution of her artistic expression: “I truly don’t want to be limited by anything, in any way. I adore so much music and I have the desire to create a variety of music, without needing to adopt alternate names or personas – I want it all to come from me. All I’m doing is producing work where I can embody all that I want to be, simultaneously.” This perspective is quite typical of an artist, as she mentions, “once you fully commit to being an artist, there are no boundaries. You can pivot into anything you wish. It becomes a seamless transition at a certain level.” The outcome of this mindset is a rich tapestry that captivates and astonishes as it shifts through genres, styles, mediums, characters, creatures, and narratives. Yet, woven through her fiction, Sophie also incorporates elements of reality, crafting a coming-of-age tale free from limitations. Because, for her? “There are no limits.” ‘kissing under an (almost) full moon’ is now available via Universal Music New Zealand.
