Jouska is back with a new single titled ‘Flower Moon.’

"It seemed to be the perfect tone for a song about emotional distance."

Norwegian artist Jouska, whose real name is Marit Othilie Thorvik, has released her new single ‘Flower Moon’, available through Koke Plate.

This marks her first new music since her second album, ‘Suddenly My Mind Is Blank’, which came out in 2023. ‘Flower Moon’ presents a morning dreamscape influenced by the ethereal dream-pop sounds of The Radio Dept., Slowdive, and Beach House.

The single was produced collaboratively with Thorvik’s partner, Hans Olav Settem. They are joined on the track by Elias Tafjord (Sassy 009, Why Kai) on drums, Bård Kristian Kylland (GiddyGang) on Rhodes, and Fredrik Svabø (Aurora) on pedal steel.

With a wistful and soothing quality, Jouska delves into themes of social estrangement and existential anxiety, encapsulating the tension between different states of existence—between chaos and stillness.

Thorvik explains: “I’ve always been attracted to soft-focus textures, subtle melodies, and that indistinct area between electronic and organic sounds. It felt fitting for a song about emotional distance.”

“I composed this track while I was in New York, grappling with a challenging time. I continually postponed sessions, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety and distracted by events occurring back home. I felt caught in a limbo—physically present in one place, emotionally anchored elsewhere—disconnected from both, and missing everything.”
