      nabeel (نبيل) has released a new single titled ‘yalma يلمع’.

      The artist, Yasir Razak, is a member of the DIY scene that contributes to Richmond, Virginia's vibrant music culture. He is skilled in various genres and involved in multiple projects.

      However, nabeel (نبيل) is a deeply personal endeavor. Rooted in slowcore and shoegaze sounds, the music utilizes hazy textures to delve into themes of identity, the longing for belonging, and the feelings of displacement that arise from straddling two worlds.

      With Iraqi roots, nabeel (نبيل) incorporates his Arabic language into his songwriting, creating something both impactful and emotive.

      The upcoming EP titled ‘ghayoom (غيوم)’ – which means clouds – is set for release on July 24th, and the captivating track ‘yalma يلمع’ serves as an excellent introduction.

      Employing slowcore and shoegaze influences, his music echoes elements from artists like Codeine and Swervedriver, yet his Arab heritage elevates the song beyond the typical boundaries of those genres, crafting something distinct and authentically reflective of himself.
